Effect of Hydrostatic Pressure on the Kondo Effect in the Heavy Fermion System Yb2Fe3Si5
نویسندگان
چکیده
We report the effect of hydrostatic pressure on the resistivity of the heavy fermion Kondo lattice compound Yb2Fe3Si5 in the temperature range 2-300 K and in pressures upto 10 Kbar. At ambient pressure the resistivity shows a prominent Kondo effect. The Kondo minimum shifts from 22.5 K at ambient pressure to 19.2 K at a pressure of 10 Kbar. The depth of the Kondo minimum also progressively decreases with pressure. These results suggest a possible weakening of the Kondo effect with the application of pressure. It is a common knowledge that the formation of electron pairs is a necessary ingredient of any theoretical work describing superconductivity. Thus, finding the mechanism of the formation of the electron pairs is of utmost importance. There are some experiments on high transition temperature superconductors which support the electron-phonon (e-ph) interactions as the pairing mechanism (ARPES),...
متن کاملP-56: The Effect of Hydrostatic Pressure on Mouse Sperm Hyperactivation
Background: Mammalian sperm are not ready to fertilize oocyte immediately after ejaculation. Sperm achieve this ability after undergoing the processes of capacitation and hyperactivation. Hyperactivation refers to a change in the motility pattern of the sperm. Pharmacological reagents and physical-mechanical forces have been used in sperm from a variety of species. Hydrostatic pressure is a cru...
متن کاملAntiferromagnetic ordering in the Kondo lattice system Yb2Fe3Si5
Compounds belonging to the R2Fe3Si5 series exhibit unusual superconducting and magnetic properties. Although a number of studies have been made on the first reentrant antiferromagnet superconductor Tm2Fe3Si5, the physical properties of Yb2Fe3Si5 are largely unexplored. In this work, we attempt to provide a comprehensive study of bulk properties such as, resistivity, susceptibility and heat-capa...
متن کاملP-37: The Effect of Extracellular Calcium Concentration on the In vitro Maturation of Mouse Oocytes after Mechanical Stimulation by Hydrostatic Pressure
Background: Oocyte maturation is usually defined as the period of progression from the first to the second meiotic arrest and involves coordinated nuclear and cytoplasmic modification. Ca2+ signals are known as important regulators of oocyte maturation. Extracellular Ca2+ is important for first polar body formation, normal meiosis kinetics, and for preserving the chromosome and spindle configur...
متن کاملEffect of hydrostatic pressure on the ambient pressure superconductor CePt3Si
We studied the evolution of superconductivity (sc) and antiferromagnetism (afm) in the heavy fermion compound CePt3Si with hydrostatic pressure. We present a pressure-temperature phase diagram established by electrical transport measurements. Pressure shifts the superconducting transition temperature, Tc, to lower temperatures. Antiferromagnetism is suppressed at a critical pressure Pc ≈ 0.5 GPa.
